Primary Sources
A finding aid for publicly accessible Human Design primary source materials — early newsletters, archived websites, research papers, and historical documents.
This page is a finding aid, not a content repository. It catalogs where primary Human Design source materials can be found, with direct links to publicly accessible archives. This archive does not reproduce copyrighted content — it documents its existence and location. All links verified June 2026.
The Library: the books’ sources, by category
The categories below organize the principal publicly accessible sources behind The Voice on Ibiza and its companion volumes, following the Primary Sources register of the books. Each category has a stable anchor; specific citations live in the books’ notes, and the detailed finding-aid sections follow further down this page. Where a live page is fragile, an Internet Archive link is given beside it.
- The founder’s own works and recordings
- The system’s institutional publications and pages
- The founding network’s own records
- Named-witness recordings and writings
- Court, trademark, registry, and catalog records
- Press, academic, and skeptical notice
- The companion volumes
- Preservation: the snapshot of every source
The founder’s own works and recordings
- The Black Book: Ra Uru Hu, The Human Design System, New Sun Services Ibiza, copyright 1991 (generally given as 1992): the first publication of the system, including the Rave Charts, the Rave I Ching, and the Juxtaposition Unified Theory. No national bibliography catalogs a founding-era edition; see the negative finding.
- The principal reference work: Ra Uru Hu and Lynda Bunnell, The Definitive Book of Human Design: The Science of Differentiation, HDC Publishing, 2011.
- The recorded corpus, c. 1993 to 2010: the introductory “set lecture” delivered across many cities; the “Gray Courses” of the German-speaking countries (the earliest surviving transcript from Munich, December 1995); the autobiographical “Rat’s Tales” and the Raveography; the interview conducted by his son Loki; the late “last physical tour” trainings; the “Mystic Monologues” and Rave Cosmology materials; and the lecture “Neo-Narcissism.” The opening Raveography installment circulates freely: “Encounter with the Voice” on YouTube and on the Internet Archive.
- The music: Going Ashore (Taos, 1997) and The Dog Queen’s Penta (Ibiza, 2005), estate property, excerpted only at the verses page.
The system’s institutional publications and pages
- jovianarchive.com, the official site of the rights-holder: the founder’s biography, the terms asserting exclusive worldwide rights, and the system’s self-descriptions.
- mybodygraph.com, the chart service; ihdschool.com, the certifying school; bg5businessinstitute.com; humandesignamerica.com.
- Where the institutional pages contradict one another, both statements are quoted from the official sources; the founding-year contradiction is tabulated at the drifting numbers.
The founding network’s own records
- The Zen Human Design archive: humandesignsystem.com, the first-person account of the American founders and the largest community archive of the early years: the newsletters (document page), the Taos materials (document page), and the 2003 letter (document page).
- The German community’s pages: humandesignsystem.de, establishing the founding roles and chart-rights of Jürgen Saupe, the software of Erik Memmert, and the early organizing of the German-speaking network.
- The Human Design Austria archive associated with Ilse Sendler, which preserved the contracts, the founder’s 2008 email, and the 2010 licensing letter.
- New SunWare: newsunware.com, publisher of the original software.
Named-witness recordings and writings
The recorded interviews, tributes, memorials, and archived writings of the people who knew the founder are catalogued, witness by witness, with links and dates, in the witness dossiers. Every account is attributed and carried with its interest named.
Court, trademark, registry, and catalog records
- The court record: Tribunale di Firenze, Sezione Imprese, R.G. 2756/2020 (cron. 944/2020), decided June 3, 2020: the full order in English translation is hosted at the document page.
- The trademark record: USPTO TSDR entries for the abandoned word-mark applications and the live design and brand-name marks, linked by serial number at the document page.
- The corporate registries: Jovian Archive Media Pte. Ltd. (Singapore, UEN 201631413Z), at the document page; Jovian Archive Media Inc. (Ontario/California) per the books’ notes.
- The copyright register: the Copyright Public Records System entries around the system’s instruments, at the document page.
- The library catalogs: DNB, K10plus, ÖNB, SLSP, B3Kat, and the Library of Congress, with the query trail at the negative finding.
- The biographical databases: Astro-Databank, with the researcher’s notes on the birth-time variants, and the Montreal newspaper record (the 1969 marriage announcement, the 1971 convocation notice, the 1973 job-appointment notice, and the 2011 death notice).
Press, academic, and skeptical notice
- J. R. Hustwit, “Human Design” as transreligious synthesis, Open Theology (2016), the peer-reviewed treatment; a 2021 article in a Swiss journal of gynecological endocrinology treating the system as a counseling instrument.
- Robert Carroll’s Skeptic’s Dictionary and the skeptical reference literature; “Human Design,” Wikipedia, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Design.
- Kindred Spirit, Issue 51 (Summer 2000); “El diseño humano,” Periódico de Ibiza y Formentera, November 3, 2004 (live); Vice and the lifestyle-press trend coverage; Chetan Parkyn, “Blacklisted,” Osho News (2015).
- Books drawn on or discussed: Wilhelm and Baynes, The I Ching (Bollingen, 1950); Martin Schönberger, The I Ching and the Genetic Code (1973); Chetan Parkyn, Human Design (HarperCollins, 2009); Jonah Dempcy, The Human Design Cult (2025); Eleanor Haspel-Portner, Marvin Portner, and Ra Uru Hu, The Science of Human Design (Noble Sciences, 2025); Jan van den Berg, Ra Uru Hu: His Story & Efforts (2024); Don C. Andrews, Chilling Out in Ibiza (2019).
The companion volumes
ZENO (2026) is the institutional history, where several facts established at length in the biography are documented in full; The Voice on Ibiza is the life; and Divergence compares the schools and systems that grew from the transmission. The primary documents behind them are at the document gallery.
Preservation: the snapshot of every source
Sources go offline. Jovian Archive rebuilt its site in September 2025 and its old story addresses stopped resolving; a teacher’s profile page that this archive quotes has since disappeared from the live web; a custodian can take a document down at any time, and community archives are maintained by individuals rather than institutions. Every outbound source cited in the documentary sections of this site has therefore been submitted to the Internet Archive, so that a reader who follows a citation into a dead page can still reach what was there when it was cited.
The table lists each source with the date of its snapshot. Where a page is linked elsewhere on this site, its snapshot is offered beside the live link as well. This archive does not host these copies; the Internet Archive does, which keeps the preservation independent of both this site and the custodians.
67 sources preserved. Refreshed by running npm run archive,
which resubmits anything whose snapshot has passed a year.
Three classes of source are deliberately absent from the table. Trademark, copyright, and library-catalog links address query interfaces rather than fixed pages, and a snapshot of one captures an empty shell; for those the durable handle is the serial or registration number, which is printed beside every entry. Video platforms are captured as pages rather than as recordings, so a snapshot preserves the citation but not the footage. And pages that are already Internet Archive addresses need no second copy.

Section 4 — Eleanor Haspel-Portner Research Paper
- Organization: Rave Life Sciences / Eleanor Haspel-Portner Ph.D.
- Location: humandesignsystem.de/news/RLS/prelim(1).htm
- Access: Publicly accessible without login
The only statistically documented validation of any Human Design construct in the public record. Co-authored by Eleanor Haspel-Portner Ph.D., Ra Uru Hu, Marvin M. Portner M.D., Erik Memmert, and Charles Haspel. Tests Human Design Type against five samples of 5,000 birth records drawn at random from the general population.
Finding: Type holds up as a highly significant differentiating variable in all groups far beyond the 99% level of confidence.

- Researcher: Sy Scholfield (last updated April 11, 2022)
- Access: Publicly accessible
The most comprehensively researched independent biographical entry for Ra Uru Hu in any public database. Documents corroborating newspaper records (1969, 1971, 1973), the birth year discrepancy, and the three birth time variants. See /record Section 5 for full documentation.
Section 7 — New SunWare: Erik Memmert and the Original Human Design Software
- Organization: New SunWare (Erik Memmert, Augsburg, Germany)
- Legal notice: newsunware.com/eng/Service/LegalNotice.asp
- Access: Publicly accessible
Erik Memmert built the first Human Design calculation software — known as the Neutrinos software — in 1993. He holds the graphics copyright on the original Human Design software output. Memmert was a co-author of the Haspel-Portner research paper (1999–2000): “Preliminary Research on the Human Design System and Health” lists him as a contributor. The German Human Design community history page (humandesignsystem.de/History.asp) attributes the 1993 authorship of the Neutrinos software to Memmert. The chart archive at humandesignsystem.com/archive/charts/ uses his software output.
His entity New SunWare is distinct from New Sun Services (Jürgen Saupe’s publishing entity) and New Sun Services America (Zeno and Chaitanyo’s U.S. entity), though the names were used in overlapping contexts in the 1993–1996 period.

Section 8 — Wikipedia: Human Design
- Organization: Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation)
- Location: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Design
- Access: Publicly accessible
The Wikipedia article on Human Design (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Design) provides a summary overview of the system and contains the most complete publicly available rendering of the June 3, 2020 Florence court ruling (Tribunale di Firenze, case R.G. 2756/2020), including translated excerpts from the court order. The article also cites the J.R. Hustwit academic paper “Myself, Only Moreso” (Open Theology, 2016) and the Stute et al. Swiss gynecological journal reference — the two peer-reviewed academic citations currently associated with Human Design in the published literature.
Wikipedia describes Human Design as “pseudoscientific.” This archive neither endorses nor disputes that characterization — its scope is documentary, not evaluative. The Wikipedia article is cited here as a reference for the Florence ruling text and the academic citation record.
