The Taos television photograph and The Taos Time, December 1993

A photograph of Ra Uru Hu during a Taos television appearance in December 1993, and the December 1993 issue of a local Taos publication, together the earliest documented American media traces of the system. Both originate in the Zen Human Design archive, which this page credits and links.

What they are

  • Photograph: Ra Uru Hu during a local television interview in Taos, New Mexico, promoting the Black Book; dated December 3, 1993 in the archive’s materials, and captioned to early December 1993 on the founders’ own history page
  • Publication: The Taos Time, December 1993, preserved as a scan in the same archive
  • Custodian: The Zen Human Design archive at humandesignsystem.com, maintained by the founders of New Sun Services America
  • Where the originals live: the photograph and its caption on the founders’ own history page, humandesignsystem.com/about archived ; the 1993 chronicle in the archive index, humandesignsystem.com/archive/index.php archived ; and the same photograph as the February 1994 newsletter printed it, newsletters/0101.pdf archived

Provenance

The photograph and the scan belong to the historical collection of the founders of New Sun Services America, who preserved the record of the system’s first American years on their site. The February 1994 Human Design Network newsletter, preserved in the same archive, captions its copy of the photograph “Ra during a local TV show in Taos.” Under this archive’s hosting rule, third-party photographs and community-archive scans are linked at their keepers’ locations rather than copied here, and the links above go to those locations directly.

What the book establishes from it

Chapter Seven of The Voice on Ibiza, “Taos, 1993,” uses the photograph to anchor the chronology of the system’s arrival in America: the airport pickup of November 24, 1993, the first introductory lecture, the television appearance promoting the Black Book in early December, and the certification of the first eight American analysts by the end of the year. The book also records what the sources do not establish: the station is unnamed in every preserved caption, and Taos had no licensed television station in 1993, so the specific outlet is not identifiable from public sources.
