Human Design vs Numerology

What each system is
The Human Design System. By its own account, a synthesis of older systems — the I Ching’s sixty-four hexagrams, the planetary calculation of astrology, the chakra system, and the Kabbalistic Tree of Life — rendered as a single calculated artifact, the BodyGraph. A chart is produced from a person’s birth data: the planetary positions at the moment of birth, and a second “design” calculation roughly three months earlier. Numerology. This archive does not document numerology as a system in its own right; the following are widely reported, checkable facts. Numerology is not one system but a family of number-symbolism practices with no single founder — number lore appears in the Pythagorean tradition of the Greek world and in later Chaldean and Hebrew letter-number practices, and the modern Western form was popularized in the early twentieth century. It works by reduction: the digits of a birth date, and the letters of a name converted to numbers, are added and reduced to a single digit or a “master number,” which is then read for meaning. It uses no birth time, no place, and no astronomy.

Where the two diverge
The input
Both systems can begin from the same fact — a birth date — but they do opposite things with it. Human Design treats the date, together with an exact time and place, as the coordinates for an astronomical calculation: it converts the moment of birth into planetary positions and reads a chart from them, and it holds that without an accurate birth time the finer calculations cannot be relied upon. Numerology treats the date as a string of digits to be added and reduced, and it adds a second input Human Design never uses — the letters of a name. What each claims to produce
Human Design produces a structured chart — a Type, a Strategy, an Authority, and a map of defined and undefined centers — and frames it as how a person is built to operate. Numerology produces a small set of core numbers, each carrying a fixed catalogue of meanings said to describe character and life direction. Both present their outputs as stable dispositions rather than passing states; neither is offered here as more accurate than the other.
Evidence and standing
The two occupy different corners of the same broad territory, and this archive states each plainly without ranking them.
