Human Design and Health
The Human Design field has an explicit health application: an advanced layer of the chart the system calls the Primary Health System, together with a research line that once operated under the names Rave Life Sciences and, later, Noble Sciences. This page documents what the field claims about that application — where it sits in the chart, what it prescribes, and what research the archive records around it. It reports the claims; it does not endorse them. The archive makes no medical or health claims of its own, and nothing here is health advice.
This page is documentary and describes a belief system's claims about the body and health. It is not medical advice, not nutritional, environmental, or treatment guidance, and nothing here should be used to decide what to eat, where to live, or how to seek, delay, or stop care. The archive documents the Human Design System; it does not certify that any of the system's health descriptions or prescriptions are accurate, safe, or effective. For any question about your health, a qualified professional — not a chart — is the appropriate source.
What the field claims: the Primary Health System (PHS)
The health application draws on an advanced layer of the chart the system calls Variable, or the Primary Health System (PHS). The archive documents this layer as its own subject at /variable; in outline, the field claims each chart carries four Variables — which it labels Determination (framed around digestion), Environment, Perspective, and Motivation — derived from the same Personality and Design calculations that produce the rest of the chart.
Around those Variables the field builds prescriptions: descriptions the system attaches to how a person is said to be best suited to eat, the surroundings it claims suit them, and the ways it says they take in information. This archive reports that these prescriptions exist and what layer of the chart they come from; it does not restate them as guidance, does not vouch for them, and does not present them as nutritional, environmental, or clinical recommendations. The field also records that this layer was added well after the system's earlier structure and was largely published after the founder's death in 2011 — history documented at /variable.

The research line: Rave Life Sciences and Noble Sciences
The field also has a research strand that touched on health. The archive documents it under the names Rave Life Sciences and, later, Noble Sciences — the research vehicle and system associated with Dr. Eleanor Haspel-Portner, Ph.D., recorded as the only person the founder formally commissioned to test the Human Design System scientifically. The fullest account of what that research examined, what it reports having statistically validated, and what it did not, is at /research/noble-sciences, drawn from her own published materials.
The archive reports this research; it does not certify its conclusions, and it does not present any part of it as an established health finding. A separate account of the wider question of whether Human Design's claims have been independently validated — the tests, what they can and cannot show — is kept at /research/validation. Read together, those two pages are where the evidence question belongs; this page only notes that a health- adjacent research line exists and points to them.

The appeal
It is worth stating plainly why the health application draws people, rather than dismissing it. Much of what it gestures at — pay attention to how your own body responds to food, to the settings you feel well in, to how you best take in information — is attention many people find useful, and the chart offers a concrete, personalized vocabulary for it. For someone who wants a structured way to notice their own patterns, a framework that hands them a specific set of variables to watch can feel more actionable than vague self-observation.
The cautions
Health is the application where care matters most, and the same features that make it appealing carry documented cautions, which this page reports without resolving them into a verdict.
- It is unvalidated, applied to the body. The archive's account of accuracy and its validation record show that Human Design's categories are untested in the public, independent sense. Prescriptions about diet, environment, and health carried on an unvalidated framework are exactly the kind that warrant a qualified professional, not a chart.
- Chart-based health prescriptions are not medical guidance. The PHS layer offers descriptions of how a person is said to be suited to eat and live; treating those as instructions can substitute a typology for actual nutritional, environmental, or clinical assessment. The archive names this hazard rather than the prescriptions.
- A research line is not a settled finding. That a research strand exists — Rave Life Sciences, Noble Sciences — does not make its conclusions established or its health implications proven; the archive records the research and its stated conclusions at /research/noble-sciences without endorsing them.
- Health and mental health both deserve professional care. Where the field's claims touch psychological wellbeing, the same rule holds; the archive keeps that companion account at /human-design-and-mental-health, which is likewise documentary and gives no clinical advice.

What this page is, and is not
This is a record of what the Human Design field claims about health, held at documentary distance and stripped of any health claim of the archive's own. It does not tell anyone what to eat, where to live, or how to seek care, and it does not advise for or against following the system's health prescriptions. Readers who want the layer the application rests on can follow it to the Variable / Primary Health System; the research line is documented at /research/noble-sciences and the wider evidence question at /research/validation; the companion account of psychological claims is at /human-design-and-mental-health. A plain account of what the charts can and cannot be shown to do is at how accurate is Human Design. The deepest account of where the system came from and what was and was not claimed for it is the book at the center of this archive, The Voice on Ibiza. A starting orientation to the whole system is the guide. The system's own published material is at Jovian Archive. For anything concerning your health, consult a qualified professional.
