The 4/6 Profile: Opportunist / Role Model
In the Human Design System the 4/6 profile pairs a Opportunist personality line with a Role Model design line. The system reads it as a network of relationships maturing into a wise and observed example. This page sets out the two lines, how the pairing is combined, and what the system means by its angle. It reports the framework in the system's own terms and takes no position on whether it is true.

The two lines
A profile is read from the lines of the two most prominent activations in a chart: the position of the sun in what the system calls the personality (or conscious) calculation, and its position in the design (or unconscious) calculation taken roughly three months before birth. Every gate maps to a six-line hexagram of the I Ching, so each activation lands on one of six line-positions, and the system gives each position a fixed archetype.
Personality · Line 4
Opportunist
Moves through life on a network of established relationships.
Design · Line 6
Role Model
Lives in three phases and grows into an example others look to.
Line names and keynotes are the system's standard archetypes, described here as part of its model rather than as claims this archive evaluates. Wordings vary in emphasis from teacher to teacher.
How the 4/6 is read
Written personality-line over design-line, the profile is stated 4/6 — the Opportunist line first, the Role Model line beneath it. The system treats the personality line as the part a person consciously identifies with and can speak to, and the design line as an unconscious, bodily disposition that others often notice before the person does. The profile is the interplay of the two: a opportunist way of meeting the world, carried on a role model undercurrent that runs whether or not it is recognized.
In the system's shorthand, the 4/6 is characterized as: A network of relationships maturing into a wise and observed example. The keynote is a short pointer to how the system frames the pairing, not a fixed definition, and teachers differ in how they weight the conscious and unconscious halves.
The left angle
The twelve profiles do not combine freely into all thirty-six possible pairs; because of how the personality and design suns relate on the system's wheel, only twelve occur, sorted into three groups the system calls angles. The 4/6 is a left angle profile, which the system describes as a transpersonal destiny — a life the system frames as bound up with others, its direction meeting the individual through people and circumstance.
A fuller account of the angles and how the twelve profiles form sits on the reference hub, alongside the six lines and every profile keynote.
Where the profile framework came from
The profile sits inside the same body of material as strategy and authority — the apparatus most students meet first — and, like it, was not part of the earliest teaching. That framework was formalized and revised by Ra Uru Hu over the years following his arrival in the United States, much of it from 1997 onward, four years into his American teaching and a decade after his 1987 account of receiving the system. How the material was assembled, and what its arrival did to the teachers who had built the American school before it, is the subject of the archive's two documentary books, ZENO and The Voice on Ibiza. The type layer the profile accompanies is set out at the five types.
The profile by other names
The line names are standard across the mainstream schools that keep Ra Uru Hu's vocabulary. The one systematic exception is Quantum Human Design (Karen Curry Parker), which renames the six lines in positive-outcome language, so the 4/6 profile carries a different name in her system. They are set side by side here, each attributed to its source — the QHD line names as documented in its published materials. Short labels for comparison, not the authors' fuller descriptions. It is the kind of divergence Divergence maps in full.

Sources: the profile, line, and angle framework is defined in the system's published material by Jovian Archive; the six lines derive from the six lines of the I Ching hexagrams (the Book of Changes) that the system's gates are built on. The full set of profiles and the angle groupings are laid out at the 12 profiles; the history of how the surrounding framework was formalized from 1997 onward is documented from the primary record in ZENO and The Voice on Ibiza; the type layer profiles accompany is set out at the five types.
