How much does Human Design cost?
Anywhere from nothing to several thousand dollars, and the honest answer is a map rather than a number — because "Human Design" can mean a free chart you generate in a minute or a multi-year professional credential, and everything between. This page lays the field out by price so you can see what each tier actually buys, and where the same information is available for less or for free. The figures are orders of magnitude, approximate and current at the time of writing, not fixed prices; vendors set their own and change them often.
In short: the chart itself is free from many generators; a personal reading typically runs from the low hundreds to several hundred dollars; foundational courses run into the hundreds; and the official IHDS professional-analyst certification track runs into the thousands. All figures are approximate and current at the time of writing.
This page names ranges and tiers, never a single authoritative price. Where a band is given, treat it as "roughly this order of magnitude, at the time of writing" — read the current price from the provider before you buy. Nothing here is a recommendation to spend, and the free and low-cost routes are set out as plainly as the paid ones.

Six tiers cover almost everything sold under the Human Design name. The bands are deliberately coarse — orders of magnitude, not quotes — because the point is the shape of the market, not a price list that would be stale by the time you read it.

Free: your chart, and why it costs nothing
The BodyGraph itself is free, and it is worth understanding why before paying for anything. A chart is the output of a calculation — the tropical-zodiac positions of the sun, moon, nodes, and planets at your birth, and again at a "design" point about three months earlier. That arithmetic is standard positional astronomy; once several sites offered chart generators, the calculation stopped being scarce. So the free tier gives you the same underlying figure every paid product is built on. What you are paying for above this line is interpretation, teaching, or a credential — not the chart. A personal reading: low hundreds to several hundred
A reading is a live session in which someone interprets your chart for you. This is where most people first spend money, and the range is wide because it tracks the reader's experience more than any fixed rate. As an order of magnitude: an introductory or overview reading tends to sit in the low hundreds; a full session with a long-established professional analyst can run to several hundred. Those are approximate and current at the time of writing — always read the practitioner's own current price.
What a reading adds over the free chart is a person: context, hedging, follow-up, and a warm voice walking you through it. That genuinely changes how useful — and how accurate — a session feels, for reasons the archive sets out separately in how accurate Human Design is. Worth knowing before you book: the value you are buying is the reader, not information unavailable elsewhere.
Courses and certification: hundreds to thousands
Above readings sit two very different price tiers. A foundational course — the beginner "Living Your Design" tier and its equivalents — teaches you to work your own chart rather than have it read to you, and typically costs in the hundreds. This is the step from consumer to practitioner-of-your-own-life, and it is where structured teaching begins.
The official certification track is a different order of magnitude. The IHDS professional-analyst path (and comparable programmes) is a multi-course sequence taken over years toward a credential to read for others; taken end to end, it runs into the thousands, and is often payable in instalments. This is the most expensive tier in the field, and it is worth being clear about what it buys: not deeper access to the system's ideas — a court has held those are freely discussable — but an institutional credential. Because the system as a set of ideas is freely discussable, a great deal of Human Design is available at little or no cost, and it deserves the same billing as the paid tiers. The books are the cheapest serious route in: introductory and critical titles, some available on Kindle Unlimited, cover the same mechanics taught in foundational courses.
