The defined centres fall into two circuits with no channel bridging them.
How it is read from a chart
Two separate groups of defined centres, with no completed channel joining one to the other. The gap between them is the feature the category is named for.
Definition is settled by the channels, not chosen: a centre counts as defined when a channel running into it is completed on both ends, and the categories here simply count how many separate groups those defined centres form. That makes definition one of the more mechanical layers of the chart, in the sense that two readers working from the same birth data should arrive at the same answer.
What the system claims it means
The system says such a person looks, often unconsciously, for the gate or the person that links the two halves, and describes them as drawn to whatever closes the gap.
This is noted in the system’s own materials as the most common arrangement, which makes it the category most readers of a chart will meet.
Register The count of groups is structural. The claim about how such a person processes information or connects with others is the system’s own characterization, reported here in its voice. The archive documents the model and does not evaluate it; what evidence exists for the system’s claims generally is set out at the validation record.
Where definition sits among the other layers
Definition depends on the channels, which in turn depend on which gates are activated, so it is downstream of the parts of the chart that come straight from the calculation. It is upstream of type and authority, both of which the system reads partly from which centres are defined. The category by other names
The definition categories are one of the places the schools leave the vocabulary alone. Quantum Human Design renames the five types and the six lines and reframes the incarnation cross, but no renaming of the definition categories was located in its own published materials, and none is supplied here. The Gene Keys does not carry definition at all, working from the sixty-four gates recast as a spectrum from Shadow through Gift to Siddhi rather than from the BodyGraph.
